hold onto Him who holds all things

This weekend, I am heading to our church's women's retreat. I'm packing boots and a scarf and night cream and a cute granny shawl a dear friend made me. But I'm holding on to the hope of Christ in all my joys, all my griefs, and looking to Him as the fulfillment of all my deepest longings.

Me and Jesus, we will meet up in the hill country and do some soul business.

{BONUS: There are no kids allowed at women's retreats, there's no laundry or dishes for me to do, and I will sleep and eat whenever I want.}

I painted this quote from Jonathan Edwards' first sermon for Mr. Fantastic last year. It never ceases to amaze me the way hope and faith rise and sing to our souls, even if the words were crafted ages and ages ago. Words are powerful, and used well, they can effect generations beyond our own.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and that Mr. Edwards' words draw hope from the well of your soul, as your good things comfort you, your bad things turn around, and your best things sing to you from the not-so-distant hills.

Happy weekend, friends.
